Check List for filing a complete registration

This Check List is a guide for charitable organizations. Please review it before you send in your registration.

( ) Registration Statement

  • Complete
  • With attachments
  • Notarized

( ) And IRS Letter of Determination

( ) And the IRS Form 1023 application

  • Required for all organizations created after July 1987
  • and
  • ( ) Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws

    • Required for organizations not required to file a copy of the IRS Form 1023

    ( ) And either the IRS Form 990

    • Required if the organization has total revenue in excess of $25,000
    • Required only after completion of the first full year of operation
  • OR
  • ( ) Attorney General Annual Report Form

    • Required if the organization has total revenue less than $25,000
    • Required only after the completion of the first full year of operation

    EZ-Notification of Filing from the New Mexico Attorney General's Office

    If you enclose a copy of the registration statement along with a self-addressed and stamped envelope, we will date stamp your registration statement with the effective date of your registration. We will forward to your attention a more formal acknowledgement of your filing after we have a chance to review your complete filing.

    New Mexico law does not require a filing fee for initial registrations or for annual renewals.
