Saturday 17th at the Gallup Performing Arts Center, Noon to 5 pm

Music and Displays

.- Authors will sign books and do readings at the theater.

- Exhibition area where books and songs can be viewed and purchased.

- Performers of original music and demonstrating songs from locally produced CDs

Publishers will present information on how to publish.

- Writers will describe their books, inspiration, and writing process.

-KGLP radio will demonstratrate their literary contributions to the community

Hane' Festival

The Second Annual Hane Festival will be held February 15-17 in Gallup at the First United Methodist Church, 1800 Red Rock Drive. The event will feature three Native American storytellers: Sunny Dooley (Dine / Navajo), Teddi Duncan (Laguna / Apache), Adam Teller (Dine / Navajo). The festival begins on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the church. A free session open to all will take place at the Children's Library (Aztec and 2nd Streets) at 11 a.m. The Saturday evening session begins at 7 p.m. There is a $5 fee for each of the evening sessions. The tellers will also participate in the Sunday morning services at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. For more information about the individual storytellers visit www.nativestorytellingfestival.com or call Sunny, Festival Director, at 722-0862.

Theme of the Gallup Literary Festival:
To highlight Gallup's diverse literary talent and how the area, people, and history serves as inspiration for its authors.. Many past and present Gallup residents have had books published in the realms of children, true crime, sports, religion, fiction, music, art, photography, and military history, to name a few. We will also highlight poets, songwriters, publishers, newspaper and radio journalists, composers, film makers, and more! Here are some of the writers who were introduced at the Festival in 2005:
Special Event:

T.S. Eliot narrates his own "Ash Wednesday" at the GPAC gallery (on CD) to accompany the art created for this purpose by Mary Boyd Ellis. Also, enjoy the orchestral setting of the poem by Dr. Roy E. Howard. Saturday at GPAC Gallery.

Pete Covitz performs original songs at 1 pm on Saturday!
